Thank you for being curious about my Stay-At-Home-Dad experience. Sorry about the intermission. It was longer than expected. Despite best efforts to generate content, the site has gathered cobwebs. Current events, both personal and environmental, have consumed what little mental bandwidth I’ve had. It’s not a writer’s block thing. It’s rage and sadness.
This blog wasn’t intended to induce anxiety or perpetuate conflict. It was created to help me vent about everyday struggles and provide a creative outlet to distract from the laundry doldrums. It was meant to be a safe zone where politics, culture wars, and general nonsense weren’t permitted, a place to celebrate my son and our family adventures. But GODDAMNIT, everywhere I turn, something is getting blown up, or someone is saying something horrible about someone else. It’s heartbreaking.
As the picture above attests, my son always runs headlong into crashing waves. He faces his future fearlessly and encourages me to do the same. And so, after a ton of bourbon-inspired soul-searching, I’ve decided to return with a mindset focused on what things can be controlled despite whatever the hell is happening outside. I NEED this, my son needs this, and I hope something I share will make a difference to someone out there who might be in a similar quandry.
Please feel free to comment or reach out by email if you’ve got something to say. I’ll do my best to respond intelligently.
See you next time.
